QTW 14 - QuickTime for Windows 2.0 Setup (1-May-95)
Q We have licensed QuickTime for Windows 2.0 and would like to know
the command-line parameters for SETUP.EXE. We hope to be able to run the
installer without displaying the "Install Options" window so we can default to
the "local" option.
A The option you need is not implemented in the current SETUP.MST file, but you
can modify SETUP.MST to obtain the installation view you require. However, the
licensing arrangement with Microsoft states that, to be allowed to distribute
SETUP.EXE, you must build the entire tool/application using Microsoft tools. If
you want to arrange a different licensing agreement, you'll have to contact
Microsoft.
As an alternative, you could write your own installation program using
InstallShield or a similar product that doesn't require a license for
distribution. We are developing a new installer, written in C, that will
eliminate the licensing requirement. However, this installer is not yet
available, and there is no projected date for distribution.
